Electrolysis is a safe, effective, progressive and permanent method of removing unwanted hair. It remains the only method legally allowed to claim it offers truly permanent hair removal for all skin types and colours and all hair types and colours, including blonde, white and grey.
During treatment, a fine probe (about the size of an eyelash) is inserted into the hair follicle where a tiny burst of energy is targeted at the root of the hair. Localised heat or sodium hydroxide, depending on the method used, is applied to the root of each hair individually. This heat or chemical reaction is the destructive force, inhibiting the hair's ability to grow. Any hair that does grow will be weaker and finer. After repeated treatments the hair is no longer able to grow at all and complete hair free results are obtained.

WHAT TO EXPECT
There are 3 methods of Electrolysis available: Galvanic, Diathermy and Blend. Your electrologist will carry out a detailed consultation to check if treatment is suitable for you and which method is best. This will be followed by a patch test, where you will get to experience the treatment. They will also discuss the expected results with you at your consultation. You can book a full treatment one week later. This delay allows us to assess the longer-term reaction of your skin to the treatment and gives you time to think about whether you wish to proceed with treatment. ​

The total number of sessions needed to remove hair permanently from a particular area will vary from person to person. Each hair requires repeated treatment because each individual hair has its own growth cycle and blood supply. Electrolysis works by weakening the hair and eventually destroying it, ensuring that it does not grow back at all. Several consecutive treatments are required to obtain a significant, long-term hair removal.
HOW TO PREPARE
Make sure that the skin is completely clear of products prior to your appointment. We recommend you do not apply fake tan for 10 days leading up to your appointment and for 1 week after treatment. Avoid alcohol, aspirin and ibuprofen prior to your treatment and let us know if you are taking blood thinners.
AFTERCARE
Witch Hazel or Aloe Vera, followed by SPF 30 or higher, will be applied to the skin immediately after treatment. There may be some mild redness and swelling at the treatment area which could last up to two hours. Keep the area clean and dry for 48 hours and avoid applying makeup and lotions for 24 hours. Avoid the use of anything that could irritate the hair follicles and avoid swimming, saunas, hot baths or hot showers for 24 hours. Always protect the skin between treatments with SPF 30 or higher.
